Best Chapter in the SAR: 1983, 1989, 1995, 1999, 2002 and 2003

We are a chartered member of the California Society and National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. We are neither a political organization nor are we affiliated with any political group also calling themselves the Sons of Liberty.

Sons of Liberty Chapter’s Charter Members When the San Fernando Valley Chapter was chartered in 1981, it was decided that a any Compatriot who attained membership in the Chapter during the first year, would be considered Charter members. In 1995 the Chapter changed its name to Sons of Liberty.

The Sons of Liberty Chapter was chartered in 1980 and is now over 200 members strong. At our meetings, business is kept to a minimum, and a guest speaker is provided. Our speakers cover a wide variety of topics of interest to our members such as American history, the preservation of our history, current events, and genealogy.

At each Chapter Meeting, we are led in an inspirational Invocation, the Pledge of Allegiance, the Pledge to the SAR , an Introduction of Guests, the Meal, the Speaker, a Business Meeting, an inspirational Benediction, and close with the SAR Recessional.

Since the establishment of our Chapter, we never have held a meeting without ladies and guests being present. The Sons of Liberty Chapter strongly believes in family values, so family and friends are always welcome. In addition to our regular meetings, we also participate in many group functions and programs sponsored by the SAR and our Chapter.

RESOLUTION

REMEMBERING the services and sacrifices of all members of the Uniformed Services of the United States from the Revolution to this day and that the wearing of the uniform of servicemen and women of the United States Armed Forces and Uniformed Services is regulated by the appropriate branches of service, The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, his Appointees, the Congress of the United States and Governors of individual States with regard to their militia.

RECOGNIZING the honor and pledge of every individual and of every Uniformed Service, one must not hesitate to question any act of ingratitude or exclusion by any. individual, organization, or public official subordinate to the Constitution of the United States of America against the uniformed men and women of this country and the uniform they wear in service to our country.

THEREFORE, recent acts of certain public officials; to wit, some school principals in Ohio and California prohibiting members of the Armed Forces to wear their uniforms while participating in their graduation ceremonies and receiving their diplomas as well as other acts of discrimination, prohibition, regulation, exclusion or discouragement of wearing the uniform of the United States Armed Services at public ceremonies have resulted in an injustice to those men and women in the Uniformed Services of the United States of America who defend our Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic and such actions have diminished the nobility of such service.

THEREFORE, The Sons of Liberty Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution in Los Angeles submit A RESOLUTION: MAY IT BE RESOLVED that in honor and recognition of all those men and women serving or veterans, retired or in training; members of the Armed and Uniformed Services of the United States of America representing the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, Reserves, Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps, State Militia, ROTC, and JROTC or any person qualifying to wear and uphold the responsibilities of members of the armed and uniformed services of the United States THAT NO OTHER governmental body, state legislature, county, municipality, school board, organization, or public official elected or appointed shall be able to restrict, regulate, prohibit, exclude, discourage or discriminate against the wearing of the Uniform of the United States Armed Services or Uniformed Services by any individual qualifying to wear them.
