Germain Dionne

GERMAIN DIONNE: Patriot ancestor of Gary DuBois

Early on in the fight for independence, Germain Dionne gave critical logistical support; providing the necessaries, supplies, and shoes etc. to the Continental recruits in the Quebec province. Dionne, along with his son-in-law Clement Gosselin participated in the Battle of Quebec, as part of the American attack on Quebec City on December 31st 1775 while serving in James Livingston’s 1st Canadian Regiment. Germain Dionne was appointed a 2nd Lt. in the Second Canadian regiment, under Col. Moses Hazen and fought at the Siege of Yorktown. He is listed as an original member of the Society of the Cincinnati with no state affiliation. as one of the Canadian and Nova-Scotia refugees, Dionne was awarded New York State bounty land of 1000 acres for his services during the war.
